Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name following her marriage. From the time she was a child, Nikki Kodjoe was a natural actor. At a Maryland competition with high school students, she took home the award for Best Actress. In the years following her work in theater, and 'The Washington Ballet Company she received a master's diploma in acting at 'New York University. Contractor, a Mumbai-born Indian, who lived in Nigeria at the age of was seven years old. knew a great deal about world cultures and traveling in such a short time. Her education was at a boarding-school in London between the ages of 7 and 9. Her family later was relocated away from London in Toronto, Canada. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the production Pericles at the world-class, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the lead role. After two weeks of performances, she got praise from the audience. The production was recognized as the best production by Canadian the critics. Contractor was given the chance to join Stratford's conservatory, where the top eight men and four women are accepted for a 20-week crash course on the classical stage that she eagerly took. She was scheduled to perform in the following play-season was confirmed and she got the part of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
